Just last week, a friend who will be spending his annual leave in Sydney, Australia asked us to take him to the airport. Along the way, our conversation led to Qantas being mentioned in the 1988 movie Rainman. In that movie, Raymond, portrayed by Dustin Hoffman insisted to his brother, played by Tom Cruise, that Qantas is the safest airline in the world. I believed that perception for years until I did my research.
That conversation made me remember my late post about our visit to the Royal Saudi Air Force Museum (RSAF) / Saqr Al-Jazira Aviation Museum. I accompanied my daughter on her second field trip here and I also want to check the place out. I admit I don't have any interest in mechanical things so please bear with me if I can't tell you some of the names of the planes, the engines, or the weaponry.
*The display halls contain exhibits on the history of the RSAF, aircraft engines and weaponry, uniforms, insignia and decorations and a special display on Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the first Saudi in space who rode as a payload specialist on the Space Shuttle Discovery on mission STS-51-G.
As much as I want to read about Saudi Arabia's aviation history in the posters inside the museum, we had to leave for other tasks. Maybe, learning about it can wait until I have time to research. I hope it won't take years this time.

Oh I thought that you visited the museum with your son... usually boys would be interested in planes, etc. I'm guessing that they have restored the oldest plane to the newest one they have, right? Pero the place where the pilot works really looks so complex... btw do you also use an abaya? na-curious ako kasi I saw some ladies on the photo wearing it. :)

Yes, we wear abayas here. One of these days, I would post pics of me wearing them. :)
Beth, I agree with Ida. Planes for me are a boy thing. Happy for you that you took time checking out the Saudi Aviation Museum. We also had the chance to see war planes. That was in Clark Air Base. Ang nag-enjoy dun si hubby not me. Lol!

Yes, Ate Beng. Planes are a boy thing. That's why Sunday and I didn't linger hehehe. If Fred and Gabby were there, they would have stayed longer for sure.
