And so I missed blogging for months here. That's because I found another job which lets me work long hours, and sometimes on odd hours. If you were to ask me, I don't like that. Who would? But when you are an expat trying to seize the opportunity in a country where women don't have that much chance of being hired - you would just take things as they are, and look at the brighter side of life.
Aside from the long hours, the new job gives me stress. Stress I've never experienced in years. There was even a time an Indian colleague asked me to smile because he told me I haven't even projected a happy face that day. And in times like these, I'm famous for bingeing on food to relieve stress. I indulge in something sweet every time.

It was for all these excuses that Fred gave in to my whim to try dip n dip in Riyadh Gallery.
One of the things I learned in dining out: when you order, ask for the restaurant's specialty. That way, you wouldn't have any difficulty choosing from the array of dining offers and you won't regret that you didn't eat what most people rave about in that restaurant. That's what I did in dip n dip. I checked online what it is famous for, asked the waitstaff what most customers order, and what he recommends we try. We decided to try all three of their bestsellers.
While waiting for our orders (and dreaming about them with my eyes wide open), the waitstaff suggested we try their Arabic coffee. Fred must have embraced the Arabian culture that he enjoyed the coffee and poured some more. But I didn't. I am salivating on the chocolates, remember?
Brownie Crepé - a French crepé filled with brownies, topped with dip n dip's signature Belgian chocolate.
I confess I'm such a chocolate addict. I eat anything chocolate. Imagine my excitement to taste these gooey chocolates layered on top of the crepé with a decadent brownie inside. That's a lot of chocolate! (Mind you, when I posted this eye candy on my Facebook account, most of my friends wanted to try it and asked for dip n dip's location. They should know that there's more to this bestseller than meets the eye.)
dip n dip Hot Chocolate - 23 Sr
I finished the Brownie Crepé with this cup of hot chocolate. It was to die for! It was soooo chocolatey good! I could drink this every morning for years. Seriously.
And so, those were what I ordered. But I didn't stop eating. I tasted Fred's and the kids' orders because I'm a chocoholic, remember?
Classic Decadent dip n dip Brownie - brownie topped with Belgian chocolate and served with ice cream on the side.
Sunday loves brownies so it wasn't a surprise that she ordered this dip n dip Brownie. She loved it. I didn't — or maybe because I was already full and satisfied with my crepé. Although its sweetness was just right, I thought there's too much chocolate that it made the brownie a little hard to bite. And that's a chocolate addict speaking her mind.
Fettuccini Crepé - fettuccine style crepé, with a scoop of ice cream, and topped with chocolate.
Surprisingly, Fred ordered something from the menu without hesitation. Didn't I tell you that he hates sweets? So there must be something in the menu, or in the ambiance of the restaurant, or in the aroma of the chocolate that permeates the air, that made him order something as sweet as the Fettuccine Crepe. And surprise of all surprises again, he finished it all. Wow. Hats off to dip n dip. Such awesome feat.
dip n dip Waffle - a classic waffle topped with a mix of fresh fruits and Belgian chocolate.
This was Gabby's order. I wasn't able to taste it because he finished it in no time. I should have tasted the pineapple chunks with chocolate. I haven't tasted that combo yet.

Cookies 'n Cream Milk Shake - 26Sr; Strawberry Milk Shake
A chef's/cook's/baker's best compliment: an empty plate. Need I say more?
I was thankful I took time out from work and satisfied my chocolate addiction in dip n dip that weekend. Although I already know that eating chocolates reduces stress, I also know that dip n dip is keen on accomplishing their target: making their customers smile. And that's what they just did to me.
Sony of the Stories of the Wandering Feet and Mind have a good story to tell about dip n dip so check out his post here. Watch out for Dip n Dip's soon-to-open branches in Tahlia Street and in Hayat Mall.

I could fee the kind of enjoyment you felt for this kind of craving, Beth. The pictures are all so delectable.
ReplyDeleteNever knew though that you are experiencing that kind of pressure at work. I so can relate to that in my previous division. Thank God I was transferred to a better one. Of course, stress still strikes but it's a lot easier to cope with it now than before.
As long as dip 'n dip is there, I'm sure you have a haven.
:-)
reviews that you post is very interesting,
